*song inspiration:

The SPU Theme Song basically just sums up who we are and what we are about. We drew influence from one another to help create the final product. Livvy started it out with the initial riff and then the whole band jumped in and we created it together.

MICROPHONE
by Super Pal Universe/Super Pal Universe/BMI
and James Mays/Kosen Rufu Publishing/ASCAP

He needs a microphone
He needs a TV show
To let the whole world know
Poor Daniel Lonely Joe
To feed his lonely soul
Will rip off those who know
How to be their own
Who don’t need a megaphone
Who sit upon the throne
And though the winds blown
And though the seas have thrown
No where to find his home

It’s harder to tug on my sleeve
You’ve got your own philosophy
The clothes and dreams of someone like me
Are never gunna set you free

Her name is Tangerine
She reads the magazines
Why can’t she make the scene
Chasing trains all day long
Longing to sing her song
In colors of her setting sun

His name is Danger Cat,
Can’t find just where he’s at
Don’t leave him or he’s SPLAT
He needs a telephone
To signal when he’s home
To call upon his inner road

*song inspiration:

Microphone is about doing what YOU really believe in and what comes from your inner self. We were influenced by the weird tune of the song, along with discussions we'd had about originality and friends that copycat. So we wrote a song about it!

WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET
words & music by Jacob Scott

I’ll be the first to tell you just because I can
I’m not some flying hero like mighty Super man
I don’t have lots of money or the looks of Hollywood
My reflection aint perfection but I think it’s pretty
good

What you see is what you get
Forget the notion that there’s a potion
To make me what you want
It’s not that complicated
Cause what you see is what you get

I know I’m not a Romeo or a sentimental man
But if you look inside of me
I do the best I can
It’s great to wish upon a star but don’t forget who
you are
You have to dream to get you through
So just listen to this clue

What you see is what you get
Forget the notion that there’s a potion
To make me what you want
It’s not that complicated
Cause what you see is what you get

It’s not that complicated
Cause what you see is what you get

*song inspiration:

With some help and inspiration from my mom and sister,I wrote the song "What You See is What You Get." We spent a few afternoons discussing the lyrics and what the message was that we wanted to get across. Mom and I started humming out a tune until we created one that we thought was catchy. We took our lyrics, adjusted them to fit the tune, and had a rough draft in about a week's time.

In our discussions I felt that people judge each other too much and instead need to accept each other and be happy with whom they are. Each of us is an individualthat can't be formed into a mold that society, the media, or anyone else thinks we should be. Each person has special qualities, talents, and differences that make us unique, which is cool.

LOVE COMES IN COLORS
by Livvy Bennett

Life can be hard sometimes knowing we can’t rewind
Just feel bad for the people living their life blind
You can live oh so alone consumed in your own mind
But if you only think of yourself you’re no friend of
mine

Open up to the world it’s easier then you think
And don’t give it all up if you hit one small chink
Maybe if you try a little there’s someone to whom
you’ll link
Why live on this world if you only let your heart
shrink

Love comes in colors, babe,
You know it ain’t black and white
Friendship ain’t a lucky thing
It doesn’t happen over night

One day you’ll open your soul to see your heart is
hollow
Then blame your emptiness on simple petty sorrow
Loving and caring are things you can not borrow
You’ll regret you thought this way when you find
there’s no tomorrow

*song inspiration:

Love Comes In Colors shows that you have to be nice to
make friends
and that life is not as fun when you're only consumed
by yourself. I
didn't have any influence for the song as it just came
from inside of
me and how I felt. I wrote this song in about two
hours. Everything
just poured out of my head and onto the page.

TEARS OF RAIN
by Aubrey Elenz

Let’s just say it didn’t work with you and me
Let’s just say it didn’t work between you and me
And I wanted it to so badly
So badly that you couldn’t even see

And when it was over my whole world changed
I felt the clouds of darkness and the tears of rain
And when it was over I cried my world away
All the way to another galaxy

This was all just a big mistake
‘Specially cause it was just a fake
And I didn’t mean for it to go this far
It used up 8 thousand miles on our life car

We were laughing and goofing off
And the fun times never stopped
I could tell that you liked me
I did too but you couldn’t see

And when it was over my whole world changed
I felt the clouds of darkness and the tears of rain
And when it was over I cried my world away
All the way to another galaxy

*song inspiration:

Throughout our lives, we experience many changes. One
of the hardest changes to deal with is when you and a
friend lose your friendship. I wrote "Tears of Rain"
because we all have difficulties in relationships, and
I wanted people to realize that it happens to
everyone.

Last year, I got in a fight with one of my friends.
There were a lot of communication problems and we
ended up not talking to each other anymore. We say
"hi"ˇ to each other in the halls now, but we are not
as close as we used to be. It was really hard for me
to deal with the situation, so I wrote a song about
it.

This song helps people realize that everyone goes
through hard relationships, whether it's a friend, a
family member, or a boyfriend/girlfriend. If you ever
feel like you're all alone, know that there's plenty
of other people around the world going through the

ON OUR WAY
by Evan Slack

Scotch tape and paper clips on the floor
Put it all together as I walk out the door
Flying my kite way up in the sky
Dreaming of imaginary, imaginary times...

If we could only see, if we could only be...

Take my hand, my friend, and we’ll walk into the sun
(into the sun)
Paint the town on the way
Follow these worn out footsteps to another place
(another place)
At least we know we’re on our way... we’re on our way

Gather around the fire again
See all these faces they can’t all pretend
To see what I’ve seen
To be where I’ve been
Open your ears and hear these words again

If we could only see... if we could only be

Take my hand my friend and we’ll walk into the sun
(into the sun)
Paint the town on the way
Follow these worn out footsteps to another place
(another place)
At least we know we’re on our way
We’re on our way, yeah, we’re on our way
We’re on our way, we’re on our way, we’re on our way
We’re on our way, we’re on our way

*song inspiration:

I wrote this song as a celebration of youth and as a
story of a life journey. My inspiration came from
memories of simpler times when I didn't have
responsibilities or problems. Everyone has to take a
step back and remember once in awhile. I think the
words paint a mental picture that can really take you
back.

This song is an overall feel good song that also has a
sense of forward motion. When I write music, I take
all the different artists that I listen to, and what I
have learned in my life to make a great song. Putting
all my influences together, to make my own style,
creates me and who I am as an artist.

This song came out pretty quickly. Sometimes you just
know what the words are, and they just came to me. I
started out on the guitar and went from there with the
lyrics. Using my inspiration, I structured the
direction I wanted it to go in, and I just let it
flow.

I sat in my room trying out different melodies and
word orders, and about an hour later, I came out with
the finished song. (Of course, later I came back and
refined everything.)

Energy
words/music by Kevin Schneider

Today I found out what it’s all about
Dancing with you on the ceiling
I hear and see a powerful thing
In circuts and batteries

Energy
You know what we mean we can’t go back
Energy
We got to the scene we’re on the attack

Electricity is surging through me
A shocking new discovery
Shut off that light it’s burning too bright
We’re flying to close to the sun

Energy
I’ve spoken my piece the time is now
Energy
Turn off that machine and get on your feet

Minute by Minute...hour by Hour
We have to find a source for all of this power

Energy
You know what we mean we can’t go back
Energy
We got to the scene we’re on the attack
Energy
I’ve spoken my piece the time is now
Energy
Turn off that machine and get on your feet!

*song inspiration:

We asked our friend, Kevin, to come up with a cool
song about energy. And he delivered!

YOU AND ME
words and music by Sara Hickman/Le Petite Bonheur/BMI

You and me
No matter whatever..,you and me
Oh, what could be better?
We'll make them see...now and forever
It's me and you

Jump down turn-around
No way to get back home
Lost in the dark without a spark
I felt so all alone
Then the sun kissed the sky
No time for wondering why
Happy to say it's a brand new day: Come on!

You and me… No matter whatever
You and me …Oh, what could be better?
We'll make them see...now and forever
It's me and you....

You knew what to do...You never had a doubt
You came along when things went wrong
And helped me sort it out
Then the sun kissed my mind
Oh, the joy you left behind
Happy to say it's a brand new day: Come on!

You and me… No matter whatever
You and me …Oh, what could be better?
We'll make them see...now and forever
It's me and you....

I wish for peacefulness...for happiness
And all the rest
The world is such a mess...it's true
But then I call your name
You run to me
We're skipping free
We've unlocked the mysteries of life...

You and me… No matter whatever
You and me …Oh, what could be better?
We'll make them see...now and forever
It's me and you....

*song inspiration:

I was thinking about my stuffed toy anteater, Petey,
that I have had for
18 years. He's been through so much with me, from
touring the world to laying around the house upside
down to coming to the hospital with me and supporting
my head during the birth of both my girls! So "You
And Me" is a testimony to the friendships with our
"imaginary" friends who give us courage and joy!
